映秀; 5.12 earthquake aftermath (2 years later)

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the fucking bad quality (because it was wintertime and fog everywhere).
Secondly, consolations to those who lost and risked their lives during the disaster.

This was what was cleared after 2 years of work.

In case you don't know, they're going to leave these bridges in they way they are now, as a monument.

There is a road at the bottom if you can see. That was an expressway for cars to get to Nine Gorges Valley, and many cars were trapped during the earthquake. Till now there are some vehicles which are still trapped among the wreck.

Imagine the mountains splitting apart. It must be horrifying.
Spot the bridge.

I was devastated to see the ruins till now. The ambiance there was horrible.

Workers who camped to get the roads done.

A temporary bridge.

This was also one of the roads which is supposed to lead us to our destinations. We're actually one of the few tour groups who want to visit this place.

I was shocked when I saw this picture in my folder. I thought she looked like ghost or something.

This huge rock is called the tian beng rock because this is one of the huge rocks who fell from the top of the mountain and rested here. The tour guide said it rolled a few kilometers.
But actually it's from

Nice exaggeration! -_-

牛圈沟

It's where the earthquake initially started.
see the very <--- isle and the very right ---> of the isle?
The valley cracked and split THAT MUCH! These two sides of the mountain were actually one piece. All the villagers who live along this split died. By the way, the "waves" are still a few kilometers way up. And guess what?

2 minutes is all the nature needs to kill 69 thousand people and 18 thousand people are still missing.

This was a secondary school where villages send their child to. Well, many unaware villages's children died in there. There are corpse still trapped in the building.

Erm this is random. A villager using urine to water plants.

Fact: The people who died weren't that much if the geologists hadn't made the wrong prediction. Many people "escaped" to ying xiu because they were told the earthquake will happen at the place(actually i don't know the exact place). End up there were more casualties instead.

From wikipedia: Sina.com posted on May 13, 2008, claiming that during a meeting on April 26, 2008, Chinese geologist Geng Qingguo (Chinese耿庆国), who was also said to have predicted the 1976 Tangshan earthquake,[176] predicted a 7+ magnitude earthquake to strike Ngawa Prefecture, Sichuan on May 8, 2008, ±10 days, and that this prediction was dismissed by mainstream seismologists, as was his 2006 prediction of a severe earthquake in the area.

It was said that the earthquake occurred due to the pressure of the three gorges dam. Well, the Chinese are stubborn, aren't they? It's a pity such a beautiful valley got interfered by man-made objects.
